His popularity in the fashion world continued to skyrocket when his repeated clientèle included such well known, international faces as Princess Diana of Wales, Katie Holmes, Nicole Richie and Natalie Imbruglia.
In 1996, he partnered with Tamara Mellon, accessories editor for UK Vogue, to create Jimmy Choo Ltd. In 2001, he sold his half of the company for ten million pounds. Although he lives in London, Choo is Malaysian and plans to start a shoemaking institute in his home country.
