What is the best place to shop at?
dapck138 asked:
We are visiting Austin/San Marcos/San Antonio and we were wondering where the best place to go back to school shopping would be. One boy is 16, and is into banana republic and metropark and the “indie” style, while the other boy, whos 13 is into aeropostale, american eagle and hollister. It would be awesome if they had back to school deals. We looked and saw some like the Highland mall in austin, or tanger or prime outlets in san marcos. Your thoughts?

These are the typical shopping places in the Austin/San Marcos area:
Barton Creek Mall (Typical stores: AE, Gap, Hollister, Macy’s, Nordstrom)
The Aboretum
The Domain (More high-end shopping)
Hill Country Galleria
Highland Mall (I wouldn’t suggest it though … there’s hardly anything here anymore)
San Marcos Outlets (LOTS of stores, but gets really crowded)
Round Rock Outlets (I prefer this outlet personally)
Lakeline Mall (like Barton Creek Mall)
South Congress Ave (vintage, fun stores
In San Antonio: there are a few places but I don’t go there that often.
River Center Mall (downtown)
North Star Mall

I cannot recommend Highland mall. There is just not a lot of stores there. Other choices in Austin include Barton Creek Mall (south austin) and Lakeline Mall (north Austin). Both of them have the stores that you mentioned.
Another choice are the outlet malls in San Marcos (Tanger Mall is one of them) and in Round Rock, TX (just slightly north of Austin)

Visit Buffalo Exchange on the Drag — you can buy, sell, trade new/gently used clothing but it’s very hip for men/women of all ages! Plus, they will honor the tax-free day as other stores. Be warned, though: parking is horrible!
