Need help shrinking some jeans?

insomniacxx16 asked:

I have this pair of jeans from banana republic. It’s my size and fits me, but its too long even though it says its my length. I’ve tried shrinking it with hot water and hot dry and it won’t shrink. Any ideas because I don’t want to sew it up because they are a decent pair of jeans.

    Hem pants.
If you get them to shrink, the length AND the width will shrink.

Try using sissors, needle and thread. Works every time.

Your jeans may be pre-shrunk. If so, you will NOT be able to get them to shrink any more. Sorry, but you should have seen some shrinkage from the hot wash, and especially the hot dryer.

I’m afraid you may have to shorten these jeans, but make sure you have enough fabric to work with before you cut off any extra length. You will need an extra 1″ of fabric to turn up once, and then again so the raw edges will be enclosed and won’t fray when you wash them. If you know someone with a sewing machine that would be most helpful. Below are links on sewing jeans.
