How do you get used to high heels?
Stacy asked:
I have to admit I am a bit jealous of girls that can wear high heels often for a long time. How do those girls do it?
Whenever I’ve worn them I seem to only be able to put up with them for a hour or so.

I guess I’ve just never figured out how to walk in them or get used to them. Does anyone have any tips or tricks? Is there a way to get used to them so that they are somewhat comfortable? I love high heels but Im tired of going to events and then spending half the night barefoot.
I guess Im asking what did you do to get used to them?
Thanks for any help!

I never got used to them and so I decided to find lower heeled shoes that look nice and that I CAN wear for long periods. I still like the look of those high heels, but I’m just not willing to put up with the foot pain, leg pain and back strain.
Besides, after awhile they make you walk funny!

Its difficult at first to wear high heels. Getting used to them is not easy. Remember that you need to keep practicing.
First off, make sure you get the right size. Most often your size for sneakers is not the correct size for heels. If you go to a department store, dont be afraid to ask for help if you dont know what size is right. Getting the right size is important.
Second, when your feet get tired, dont take off the heels. Obviously you dont want to suffer or cause severe pain. But If you take them off at the first sign of pain or being tired, you will never get used to them. This is the biggest mistake girls make. Until you are used to them, high heels hurt. There is no way around it. Your feet are going to hurt. Wearing high heels is a different ball game than wearing flats and your feet are not used to that kind of walking. You just have to commit yourself to getting used to them.
It really does take practice. Wear the heels at home and dont just wear them while stitting down, you need to be on your feet doing things in them. When you are good at walking in your house with them, try other surfaces and get used to each surface.
Slowly you WILL start to get better and used to them. ANd eventually wearing heels will be just as easy as wearing flats. There is nothing special about those high heel girls. They went through the pain too.

basically, u need to practise to get ur balance right,..
it might be a good idea to work on ur balance,..try looking straight in a mirror while walking,..coz most of the awkwardness comes from not knowing what ur body is like in heels,..
then i dont think i know anything else,..but keep practising

sleep eat walk dance clean with them lol. i was told the best way to get used to them is just wear them as much as you can around the house. and eventually you’ll learn how to balance your self with them. and you’ll be fine.

Wear them while you’re doing the housework to wear them in so they’ll be comfortable when you’re out and about.
One of the ladies I work with will buy new heels and wears them for 1 hour the first day and 2 hours the next day until she can wear them the whole day without getting sore feet.

You are supposed to walk on your toes not the heel of the shoe it makes it easier on the heel of the shoe and your foot. Try practicing walking in the heels.

I wear heels all the time. Pretty much all I wear is heels. So here is my advice. Start with some heels that are shorter. Wear those for a while. And then when you get to about 3 inch heels for a while wear some that have some width to the heels as well. After you are good with being in heels you can go higher and skinner heels.
Don’t go for the cute little strappy heels either until you are used to wearing them. Get ones that support your whole foot at least in the beginning.

Practice makes perfect. What’s causing the pain is that because they’re heals, it’s making your feet slip in those tight straps. You’ll have to keep walking and walking in them. Do it step by step. Keep practicing with them on for an extra half an hour for a week or 5 days. Then keep adding up until you feel more comfortable handling the pain. It’s something you’ll have to bare. Remember no pain, no gain. Hope this helps!

To put it simple… Wear them.
Keep practicing.
Avoid the very skinny ones, but i dont agree with girls that say to go with thick heels. I think that doesnt allow the brain to learn the change in balance that it needs to learn. Start with regular pumps (you can have an ankle strap if you want) at 2 inches and work your way up.
Your feet are going to hurt for awhile. Im sorry but that’s how it is. You can make it easier for now by not wearing the heels with the thin straps or heels over 4 inches. You can get used to those later on….and it will be easier by then.

I tend to try and slip them off my feet – WITHOUT ANYONE NOTICING – under the table at events or whilst eating etc and then casualy slip them back on.. it gives your poor tootsies a rest. Im actually a funny one I would rather wear heels than flats , my feet are in a high arch and dancing with out heels just cant be done for me.. if i have no shoes on i have to go on tip toes to get the way i dance very strange. So your really lucky in a way.
Buy the schol party feet they sooth aches. Also get used to wearing them. On a sunday when your in your pyjamas around the house put a pair of heels on and parade around in them.. you soon get used to it.

Why do you want to do this to your feet? If your feet hurt they’re trying to tell you something!

Start with a low heel and be comfortable…Slowly work your self to a higher heel… Practice, practice, practice is the only way… do toe lifts… Stand in the high heels of your ultimate desired height and walk in them for a while… don’t over do it… I use to hold on to a wall/pole or chair and practice bending, squating, raisng my knees up, doing leg kicks… If I had a walker I would have used it in the begining… I really wanted to master high heels when I made the choice of wanting to wear them…
