What do I wear to the Rainbow Room?

jimmy choo

Hello, I’m going to be having dinner at the Rainbow Room in Midtown Manhattan NYC, and I have no idea what to wear.
I’m 19 and a guy I’ve been dating has invited me there. I’ve never been there, but I know that the dresscode is cocktail dress or evening gown. I want to go out and treat myself and buy myself something new. :3 So, I need some help trying to pick something out.
I’ve been friends with the guy for about a year or two, and he’s totally cute and british and probably will think I’m gorgeous no matter what I’m wearing.

A little about me: I grew up in canada. I’m studying law right now, but I’m doing a bit of culinary work on the side. I’m not glamourous at all, and I like to look natural. I hate it when people stare at my clothes and not me. I like Tory Burch, Rachel Pally, Juicy Couture, Marc Jacobs, Jimmy Choo, Vince., and Burberry.

So make me an outfit?

Help! I’m nervous. <3

I would wear something understated and sexy, but without a ton of skin. I would definitely go for a cocktail length with sky-high heels. Here are some nice ideas of a silhouette:
(This one looks terrible on the model but has a great back:)

Unfortunately, most of your favorite designers do not major in eveningwear.

Since you are so young, you should be extra careful not to look like you are trying too hard…make sure it would be something appropriate for a 35 year old to wear (but not dowdy)
