Why do women wear high heels and other uncomfortable clothing?

high heels
nubian princess asked:

I understand looking good but I don’t understand people who would make themselves uncomfortable for fashion. My outfits look nice and I don’t have to put myself through the pain of high heels and tight skirts. I rather look plain and be comfortable than to be beautiful and feel like I’m in hell.
Also alot of foot problems come from wearing high heels too. Many doctors believe women should avoid heels.

it is just a style….i like heels and they hurt like hell, but i think it is ****….i don’t wear tight clothes, just high strappy heels!! :)

high heels aren’t even uncomfortable.. if you get a good pair that’s really well put together you will be comfortable all day. i wouldn’t be caught dead in flats. they’re atrosious!!!!!!!!!!!

    : )bae

They bring attention to the desired parts of the body. I know my legs look better with heels on but i will be damn if i walked around in those things.

most do it to feel **** and beautiful. some think it is comfortable others dont. i personally **** high heels. i cant walk in them and they give me blisters, but skirts on the other hand are comfortable to me.

  6. ferrrriswheel says:

Well…I’m actually pretty comfortable when I wear heels. I just choose pairs that fit well and don’t have like 5 inch spikes. You can even put a comfortable gel insole inside the shoe.

You don’t have to make the decision between “looking beautiful” and “being comfortable”, because it’s very simple to do both at the same time =]

Sure, there are girls who do go through pain just to look pretty, but many don’t…so you shouldn’t jump to the conclusion that because a woman is wearing a pair of heels she must be suffering to look ****. That’s just not the case lots of the time.

Well, some heels are actually comfortable in my opinion, which is why I wear them. I would never wear any that actually really hurt my feet. But for people who do wear stuff that is uncomfortable, I think it’s just cause they know it makes them look good, so they just deal with it.

Dear Nubian Princess, my Ma always said to look good is to feel good. So if you feel good your gonna look good, and everyone will see the inner bueaty shine through!

Anyway, high heels and tight skirts say something don’t they. As my Ma always said, “those kinda gal’s are only looking for one thang, and it aint conversation!”

  9. Deniella says:

i guess they really want to be noticed…

(which the saying *beauty hurts*..is then factual haha)

because looking cute is important to them, sometimes looking comfortable is o.k. but looking fabulous is even better. i know i have a lot of shoes that are uncomfortable but i think it’s worth it.

    just to look beautiful

Well said, Princess! I know a woman who went all her life wearing stiletto heels and even those stiletto poofy mules/slippers. She was in lots of pain, yes, but she got to a point where her feet were so deformed that she could not wear flatter shoes.

I, too, like to be comfortable in clothes. If one has to worry that one is indecent stooping to pick something up, that is not my idea of comfort! Same goes for “down to there” tops and dresses.

    being beautiful hurts

someone told me that, but i dont remember who.

but i know what u are talking about. i wear mini skirts, but i like them and i dont feel like im in hell. but i dont wear high heels because im only 13. but when im older i might because some of the cutest shoes are high heels. so i would do it. but people are different and have different opinions.

  14. oh really says:

Because i know how good high heels make my calves look, its the one thing i know for sure that will turn my husbands head without a moments hesitation, and sometimes, you need to add a little spice to things, and as for the skirts, becuase i have worked hard on these legs and my abs, and the best way to show them off is to wear my clothes where they APPEAR to be tight, but they are actually just stretchy material, so its not uncomfortable at all, you may also want to think about the old saying “no pain, no gain”, if you wear tighter clothes, you will be less likely to over eat, and gain too much weight, and wearing heels burns more calories than flat shoes, unless you are running or working out. so there are positive points to wearing those ‘uncomfortable’ items

  15. Alysse says:

I’m wondering the same thing about the heels.
I guess to give you height, my mother wears them basically everyday, then later complains about sore feet.
Well, think of it this way; Your going out to dinner at this very elegant five star restaurant wearing a silk dress that costs $130 dollars, and you’re only 5 ft 2 inches. Wouldn’t it be awkward to wear flats? to me it would be. I guess they’re for more height, and to make you feel more confident.

  16. blackladywarrior30 says:

I wear high heels because they accent my legs, my posture, & actually remind me to place one foot in front of the other when I walk, in other words, they remind me to be a lady, carry myself with dignity, lift my head up, stick my chest out, flaunt, hell, there are just **** & uncomfortable at times, but what would life be like without them?

  17. red_chalk says:

D: Because beauty is pain. I have 2 pairs of black flats that give me blisters after about 4 hours. But I still wear them because they are so cute. I know it’s silly, but I can’t help it. Who doesn’t want to look good?

  18. paulaj2006 says:

I like being a bit stylish when I dress. I dress for myself, not for a man or for anybody else. As a *********** I have had to wear the uncomfortable clothing guys wear and I prefer to wear the lighter clothes of the gender I am and the *** I should have been born.

Mens clothing is heavier and less stylish, there is only so much you can do with jackets, shirts, and pants.

As for high heels, I had to learn how to walk in them, if I had been born female, my body would have been shaped to wear them as when you wear them you need to walk on the balls of your feet, not the heel. And women naturally walk on the front of their foot. It also has something to do with how the female body weight and mass is distributed.

Some women wear undergarments that seem uncomfortable to you but to them they want to look nice and to form their bodies to be attractive, so they wear undergarments that will shape them and if you wear them often enough you realize that they can be comfortable.

You sound like a young woman who is still in a youthful shape. So you haven’t had to worry about your body type. Just wait til you get older and you start to look at your aging body and wish you were young again.
