What do you do to relief the pain from wearing high heels?

high heels
Brecht B asked:

What do you do when you’re somewhere (like going out) and your feet hurt from wearing high heels, and there’s no possibility to sit down or take them off? Stand on your tiptoes? Balance on one feet and then the other? Anyone?

Drink A LOT of alcohol. The pain seems to disappear quickly…

Apart from that I kinda just hop from one foot to the other, which I am sure is possibly very unattractive, but it’s better than trying to suffer quite excruciating pain.

always have a spare pair in the car..you can also put insoles into the painful shoes to give them alittle more mileage..

I don’t wear them in the first place. I’d rather be comfortable than to fit in with all the club glitter.

Pain is best taken care of by preventative measures. SO, prior to going out in high heels ( which as a chiropractic intern- I don’t recommend wearing), get your feet adjusted by a chiropractor. It feels great and your feet will be aligned to be able to handle the stress. In addition, find some orthotics that will held support your foot. This will help relieve the pain when you are standing for a long time.

    Good Luck

I use a common childbirth technique coined Lamaze. It involves distracting yourself from the pain of giving birth through different physical and mental techniques. One good thing to do is to make your mind as flooded with information as possible. The best physical sensation for ignoring pain is, obviously, an ******. If you rub your ******** and insert your high heeled shoes into your vaginal orifice, you will instantly forget the pain.

I wear high heels all day long at work.
You just have to ignore the pain and it helps when you can shift you
weight from the ball of your foot to the heel when you are standing still.

Pain under the ball of the foot (Metatarsalgia) is a common complaint with women wearing high heels and fashion shoes. Pain in this area of the foot may also occur when wearing hard shoes without any cushioning inside, such as work boots.

Metatarsalgia is often described as a burning sensation in the ball of the foot, often combined with excess callous forming. The pain worsens when wearing high heels or tight fashion shoes for longer periods of time.

Ball of Foot Pain (Metatarsalgia) occurs when the metatarsals (forefoot bones) drop and the surrounding ligaments weaken. The entire forefoot structure collapses, in turn leading to excess pressure and friction under the ball of the foot. The key reason for this problem is that when wearing high heels most of our bodyweight is resting on the forefoot area.

There are orthotic insoles on the market specifically designed for high heels, Orthotic Insoles restore biomechanical balance by supporting the arch, as well as the metatarsal bones.
