LV bag?

I got a LV bag and a Jimmy Choo bag (this season’s) for free…I went home and set them on top of the washer in the garage – - left the house. My mother in law was visiting — and she asked my husband for one of them – and the stupid man said sure choose one!!!!! he knew I got them for free……….she took MY LV bag!!!!!! then she was like Oh thanks for the purse blah blah blah! I want it back but feel there’s no right way of asking for it back…….what shoul I do?
